We're Hiring an HR Generalist

About the Position

Salary Range: Starting at $65,000

Position Open from 10/29-11/6.

The HR Generalist will run the daily functions of the HR department, including recruitment, onboarding, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and fairly applying company policies and practices. This position will also focus on implementing programs that support diversity and equity, employee engagement and morale, and the inclusion and appreciation of all staff members.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Performs tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs, including but not limited to: 
    • Compensation and benefits
    • Leave administration, documentation, and tracking
    • Disciplinary matters
    • Disputes and investigations
    • Performance and talent management
    • Diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging 
    • Employee recognition programs
    • Occupational health and safety
    • Training and development
  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates hiring qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Conducts background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
  • Safely maintains employee personnel files and records, as well as employee medical records.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Attends and participates in employee progressive discipline meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains a strong knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Liaises with external stakeholders, including but not limited to the organization’s insurance broker, insurance carriers, employment law attorney, retirement plan administrator, HRIS service team, etc.
  • Ensures compliance in all HR programs and practices.
  • Maintains data integrity within the organization’s HRIS; supplies reports from that system as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Effective time management skills with the proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • An aptitude for analysis and problem-solving.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent management systems.
  • Proficient in Google Suite.
  • A First Aid/CPR card is preferred.  
  • Spanish-speaking bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.

Education and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field is required. 
  • 3+ years of professional human resource administration required.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
