We're Hiring a Communications Assistant

About the Position

Salary Range: Starting at $42,000

The Communications Assistant is responsible for Connected Lane County’s social media and community awareness strategies. Primary duties include orchestrating the social media presence, writing copy for newsletters and other publications, assisting with fundraising events, and supporting community outreach efforts.

We are looking for a self-motivated and organized individual who is enthusiastic about our mission and passionate about storytelling, content creation, and marketing and event assistance. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable about current digital marketing tools and strategies, possesses fantastic communication and time management skills, works well in a cross-functional team, and is highly attentive to details.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic social media initiatives in collaboration with the marketing team.
  • Maintain content consistency and adhere to brand and style guidelines to ensure the organization's social media presence is on point.
  • Generate engaging content for marketing assets such as newsletters, social media, websites, and more.
  • Manage and update social media accounts, including Facebook, Instagram, and other relevant platforms.
  • Promote program events and activities through newsletters, advertising efforts, media outreach, and more.
  • Attend and assist with fundraising and program events.
  • Monitor and track marketing analytics to assess the effectiveness of social media campaigns.
  • Update and manage media contact lists.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, or other related fields is preferred.
  • Must have at least two years of experience in a marketing operations role with a demonstrated knowledge of conventional and digital marketing, content marketing, social media marketing, and data analytics.
  • A combination of experience, education, or training may be considered.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Comfortability with Adobe Creative Suite and Google Suite is required.
  • Must have excellent knowledge of various social media platforms, including Instagram and Facebook.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills with copywriting and editing experience.  
  • Must be enthusiastic about our mission and passionate about storytelling.
  • Highly developed organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines are both required. 
  • Creative, innovative, and willing to learn and explore new concepts and ideas. 
  • Initiative and ability to work both independently and as part of a team. 
  • Ability to creatively problem-solve and try new approaches. 
  • Ability to work harmoniously with internal staff, grantors, and partners.  
  • A valid Oregon driver’s license or ability to obtain one by hire date is required.
  • A First Aid/CPR card is preferred.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Spanish language skills are preferred.
