We're Hiring an Youth Outreach Coordinator

About the Position

Salary Range: Starting at $55,000

The position will remain open until 12/2/2024.

The Youth Outreach Coordinator for our Spark program will be a vital link between youth, Connected Lane County, and community resources in Lane County. This role facilitates meaningful outreach initiatives and builds relationships with the African-American/Black community. The Youth Outreach Coordinator will collaborate with schools, families, partner agencies, and community organizations to ensure that Connected Lane County effectively engages youth in their diverse environments. They will maintain a current knowledge of educational, health, and recreational resources available to youth.

The Youth Outreach Coordinator will be a part of our Spark team, which provides hands-on STEM learning in a safe environment. This position will work closely with peer Coordinators, Resource Navigators, and Project and Program Assistants to ensure that Connected Lane County reaches youth who would most benefit from the organization’s resources and programs. Specifically, this position will recruit for and support our summer Invention Lab experiences, school year Invention Club, ACT-SO, and Youth Advisory Board, and work to strengthen our relationship with community partners, including NAACP.  The Youth Outreach Coordinator will work directly with youth and ensure seamless transitions between our programs and community experiences.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and executing outreach strategies to engage youth in STEM in Lane County.
  • Build relationships with youth and families to raise awareness about Connected Lane County and partner programs/resources.
  • Maintain current resource information for educational, health, and recreational services and support.
  • Support the implementation of programs that align with youth needs and organizational goals.
  • Help organize and facilitate events that encourage youth participation and engagement.
  • Offer extra support and guidance to youth facing challenges related to resource access.
  • Collect and maintain outreach activity and program participation data to evaluate role efficacy.
  • Provide feedback and insights to the team to inform future programming and outreach efforts.
  • Represent youth interests to ensure their voices are included in decision-making processes.
  • Work collaboratively with team members and community partners to enhance outreach initiatives.
  • Coordinate outreach and communication to identify and develop new partnerships.
  • Work with the marketing team to develop partner and youth outreach materials.  
  • Participate in meetings, conferences, and training as the organization and position require.
  • Provides professional development to staff as assigned on methods or programs identified to support effective educational services to African American/Black students.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with community partner organizations, including Black-led organizations, to collaborate toward common goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Presentation and Facilitation: Skilled in presenting and facilitating discussions with diverse groups and synthesizing information for program development.

Qualifications & Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficiency with Google Suite is required. 
  • A valid Oregon driver’s license or ability to obtain one by the hire date is required.
  • A First Aid/CPR card is preferred.
  • Must be willing to undergo a background check. 
  • Spanish language skills are preferred.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, education, or other related fields is preferred.
  • Two years of successful experience in outreach, project, or program coordination is required.
