We're Hiring Marketing Projects Assistant

About the Position

Salary Range: Starting at $50,000

The position will remain open until 12/2/2024.

The Projects Assistant will be crucial in advancing our organization’s goal of reaching more BIPOC youth through expanded outreach and communication efforts. Working closely with the marketing team and program staff, the project assistant will help coordinate and communicate our programs across various platforms. This position will also assist the team in crafting data insights and compiling reports.  In this role, the Projects Assistant will support organizing outreach events at schools and in the community to ensure youth are informed about and have access to our high-quality, equitable, work-based learning opportunities.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Support program teams in outreach strategies to boost youth participation in STEM and work-based learning across Lane County.
  • Organize and facilitate outreach events at schools and community sites to increase youth awareness and engagement.
  • Track and maintain data on outreach activities to assess program effectiveness and guide future initiatives.
  • Provide feedback from outreach activities to inform program and marketing improvements.
  • Ensure youth perspectives are prioritized in program planning and decisions.
  • Collaborate with team members and community partners, including BIPOC-led organizations, to enhance outreach initiatives.
  • Help develop content for social media, newsletters, websites, and reports, maintaining brand and style consistency.
  • Work with the Communications Assistant to promote program events via marketing channels.
  • Identify and establish new community partnerships to expand reach.
  • Support the marketing team in creating outreach materials for youth and partners.
  • Attend meetings, conferences, and training relevant to the role.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners, including Black-led organizations, to support shared goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Well-developed communication skills (both oral and written) and courtesy are required to develop and maintain positive relationships with diverse populations of youth, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Expertise in the Youth Support or Peer Support subject area.
  • Excellent time management, problem-solving, and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of local businesses and community organizations is preferred.   
  • Ability to effectively engage with diverse individuals in a culturally appropriate manner. 
  • Initiative and ability to work both independently and as part of a team. 
  • Highly developed organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines are both required. 
  • Ability to work harmoniously with internal staff, grantors, and agency partners.  
  • Ability to operate media equipment such as projectors and personal computers and proficiency in presentation software.
  • Proficiency with Google Suite is required.      
  • A valid Oregon driver’s license or ability to obtain one by the hire date is required. 
  • A First Aid/CPR card is preferred.  
  • Must be willing to undergo a background check. 
  • Spanish language skills are preferred.

Education and Experience

  • A high school diploma plus two years of experience in a marketing position is preferred.
  • At least one year of successful experience working in a setting with underserved youth.
  • At least one year of successful experience assisting with events, communication, or grant writing.
  • A combination of experience, education, or training may be considered.
