Connected Lane County recieves 15K for economic growth initatives

Connected Lane County received $15,250 as part of a grant from Lane County’s Community & Economic Development Program. These funds will help fuel our industry tours. We partner with rural and metropolitan Lane County schools, educators, and businesses to offer 700 high school students opportunities to explore careers in technology, manufacturing, health, and natural resources. Through hands-on industry tours, students interact with professionals from diverse backgrounds and gain exposure to career paths they may not have considered.
Each tour is provided at no cost to students or schools, including transportation, lunch, snacks, and drinks. These tours allow youth to ask questions, experience operations firsthand, and connect with local businesses. We see this program as one of the first steps in our larger pathway to economic and workforce development for youth in Lane County.
Our other programs, such as job shadows, paid internships, professional and financial literacy workshops, industry Excelerators, and mentorship, work in conjunction with the Industry Tours so that youth can easily access this pathway with one trusted organization. By sparking curiosity, we help youth discover local career options, preparing them for successful careers in Lane County’s workforce.
