Lane STEM is a Connected Lane County initiative focused on STEM experiences for students, educator development, and community awareness.

Lane STEM is one of the thirteen Oregon STEM Hubs, working with all 16 school districts in Lane County. We convene the STEM Leadership and Operations teams, facilitate professional development for teachers, and implement programming for students.

Our Programs Include:

  • Computer Science and Digital Literacy
  • Gigabots for Classrooms
  • At-home, offline STEM kits for students
  • codeORcreate Annual Hackathons
  • Internet Connectivity for rural families
  • Mathways
  • “Patterns” Educator Enrichment
  • Digital Badges
  • STEM Family Nights
  • Youth Voice

In partnership with the Beyond High School Network and others, Connected Lane County strives to support local high school counselors, college/career and other guidance staff with yearly professional development workshops.

In collaboration with Badgr, open source badges will be available to Lane County students to capture their career exploration. Badge pathways that students complete will lead to guaranteed job interviews with local companies.

In partnership with the Technology Association of Oregon, the Regional Advisory sets the course for county-wide K-12 computer science curriculum. Additionally, it approves technology-based Career and Tech Ed curriculum.

The P3-P8 workgroup, co-convened by Connected Lane County and the Early Learning Alliance, organizes efforts promoting Kindergarten readiness, social emotional learning, and early literacy.
