Full Job Description
General Tasks:

Follows time clock procedures for clocking in and out at the start and end of the shift.

Reports to work on time for each shift.

Ensures the kennel facility is clean and tidy, maintaining a professional appearance at all times.

Make certain entire hospital both inside and outside, including treatment, surgery, kennels, runs, parking lot and entry is kept extremely clean throughout the day (so that a client could come back and see their pet without any notice). This includes your own clothing and appearance.

Assists the Hospital Manager with special projects during slow times.

Keep hospital rooms clean, orderly and free of odors.

Keep Veterinary Technician/Assistant staff informed of animal behavior, health or concerns.

Perform daily cleaning of kennels, cages and public areas, following proper disease control protocol to ensure a sterile environment (This includes exam rooms between appointments, lobby, hallways, lab, pharmacy, treatment, radiology, kennels, break room, and restrooms.)

Clean surgical laundry, clean and sonicate surgical instruments and prepare surgical packs as needed including correctly cleaning and lubricating instruments.

Patient Care:

Walks, feeds, and provides water for hospital patients and boarders.

Bath or clean pets immediately that become soiled with urine, blood or feces.

Cleans patient cages and runs daily and as needed.

Washes, dries, and stores towels and boarding facility bedding.

Washes dishes as needed.

Demonstrates and utilizes proper restraining techniques.

Reads and accurately interprets the patient chart for any special situations.

Monitors patients’ behaviors and notes potentially aggressive behaviors; requests assistance when needed.

Under the supervision of a Veterinary Technician, provides boarders’ medications and records treatments accurately in the charts.

Escalates any patient health concerns to a Veterinary Technician or Veterinarian in a timely manner.

On the day of discharge, gathers all of the pet’s personal belongings for the client.

Pay: $13.00 – $14.00 per hour
