The role: The Youth Litter Patrol (YLP) Program was founded in 1977 help clean up state highway rights of way. This is a great opportunity to work outdoors with a team and have a role in maintaining state highways and helping the environment as well as learn about career opportunities at ODOT.

We are seeking litter patrol workers in Springfield. Litter crews primarily pick up litter along state highways although other tasks may be assigned. Applications are welcomed from anyone over 16 years of age (for crew member positions).

Litter patrol workers are temporary employees and are not eligible for vacation, personal or holiday leave. The District 5 crews will work full-time and hours may vary. These positions will last from 03/01/21 to 09/01/21 (total hours not to exceed 1,040).

Pick up and bag litter along state highways.
Follow ODOT’s specified safety procedures.
You will work in all types of weather and around traffic.

What we need:

You must be at least 16 years old when you start working.
You must have a basic knowledge of spoken and written English.
You must be able to carry filled garbage bags.
You must be willing to work in all types of weather and in a safe manner along state highways.
You must pass a criminal background check.
