Full Job Description
POSITION: Middle School Student Support Education

157 contract days per year (prorated for the remainder of the school year); 7.5 contracted hours per day with a 30 minute unpaid lunch; Harrisburg operates on a 4-day school week M-TH with some Fridays; paid CPI training provided

Work with students in the K-8 Behavior Room, and other duties as assigned

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:

 

Completed District Application
Copy of High School Diploma, or transcripts confirming graduation, or equivalent (i.e., GED) required
Completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education, OR obtained an associate’s (or higher) degree, OR pass an accepted rigorous standardized test for para-professionals upon hire
Varied experiences working with children
Basic computer skills

PHYSICAL SKILLS REQUIRED AND IN PRACTICE:

Employee spends much time moving about the classroom and school facility, may bend and kneel often to be at eye level with young children. May be stressful for those who deal with unmotivated and disrespectful students.

In an eight hour day employee may:
Stand/Walk 3-4 hours
Sit .5-1.5 hours
Employee may use hands for repetitive:
Fine manipulation
Single grasping
Pushing and pulling
Feet-Some specialty equipment may have foot controls
Employee may need to frequently:
Bend
Squat
Stand/walk
Lifting: Light to heavy work; may need to
lift up to a 50 to 60 pound child to assist them.
